THE SUMMER RETREAT 2010TEACHERS TEACHINGS AND MEDITATION IN A SILENT RETREAT SETTING AT THE GOVERNOR'S ACADEMY Byfield, Massachusetts AUGUST 25TH - AUGUST 29TH
Cindy Lee began studying Tibetan Buddhism in 1997, attending the teachings, retreats and ceremonies of the Gyuto Monks. She then embarked on a nearly decade-long journey to find her teacher. Now Cindy sits at the feet of her Heart Lama, Venerable Sumati Marut, who she has taken continual teachings from since 2006.
Lama Marut has guided her to the completion of the 18 Foundational Buddhist courses of the Asian Classics Institute and further advanced studies. She has also studied the full Classics of Yoga curriculum of the Yoga Studies Institute, and many other in-depth courses and retreats with Lama Marut. Cindy has trained in several forms of yoga, dance and martial arts and teaches Buddhism and meditation in the USA and Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and also an Advanced Diploma in Electronic Design and Interactive Media and has also taught in Media and Film programs at Swinburne University. Working as a professional digital artist, film editor and VJ (video-jockey) in Australia, Europe, the UK, and USA, Cindy uses these digital media to share the teachings of her Lama. Rick Blue and Lindsay Crouse Husband and wife Rick Blue and Lindsay Crouse completed the Asian Classics Institute teacher-training program in 2004. They are currently continuing advanced Buddhist studies under Venerable Marut in Los Angeles and Geshe Michael Roach at Diamond Mountain University in Arizona. They have taken teachings from the Dalai Lama in the United States and India. Lindsay is an Academy Award-nominated actress, who has taught directing at USC Graduate Film School, and acting at major universities around the country. Dedicated to changing the violent focus of the American television and film industry, she has created a unique approach to acting combined with the dharma. Rick has just completed nine years as editor and director of the beloved ABC series, Scrubs. His great love is documentary film making, and he had the honor to edit "In Search of Kundun", the documentary based on Martin Scorcese's film about the Dalai Lama. Together they teach Tibetan Buddhism in Los Angeles and around the country.
Michael Johnson ERYT-500 and Stephanie Johnson are certified Jivamukti and Tibetan Heart Yoga instructors who have studied directly with Geshe Michael, Lama Christie, Sharon Gannon, David Life, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sri Swami Satchidandanda and many others. Michael has been a full-time yoga teacher in the Detroit area since 2001. Stephanie has is also certified in restorative yoga and Thai Yoga Massage. They both live in Asheville, North Carolina and continue to study Yoga and Buddhism closely with Kimberley Theresa.
Dr. Pat is a student of Lama Sumati Marut, and has studied Tibetan Heart Yoga with Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally. Her teaching of yoga emphasizes the connection of the true self and healing.
